 new instance

I feel it would be very nice if there is some shortcut for "new instance". Right now one has to right click and choose from the menu. I would be happier if, for example, I can get a new instance by Ctrl + left click.

Sounds like a good idea and not very complicated to implement. Will try to include this for next version.

Sorry for not being able to update Daisy yet guys, implementing the new taskbar feature has proven to be a little more time consuming than I've calculated. Will update as soon as it gets completed. Thank you for the patience.
Regards.

 suggestion

i love this dock!

would it be possible to have it fall to the background or "hide" until you bring your mouse to the bottom edge?

it would make it much more usable if it could pop up while it's covered!

sorry if this has been suggested before but there are many pages of comments :-)

Hi there.

Daisy has auto-hiding. Right-click on the dock > Daisy settings > Hiding tab > Select "Hide automatically". It will hide itself X seconds after the cursor leaves the dock, and reappear when the cursor moves over the area where the dock was.

To have it "pop over the windows" is bit more complicated to do in Plasma, and it will require the use composite. That's a bit hard for me to implement, as my system cannot handle composite that well... :/ It has been requested on a number of occasions, and it's a TODO. :)

Regards and thank you for taking the time to comment.

 running app miniatures

by kuchumovn on: Aug 22 2009

hi.
i've just installed this widget and find it perfect : )
tho it lags when adding/removing launchers, or edit their icons, in linear mode - it is not being redrawn, so stale layers overlap into a messy panel...

and i would like to know, how can i get running app miniatures like on a screenshot above for gwenview?
i looks nice on a screenshot, but all i've got in 0.4.6 is just a list of window titles, and no miniatures at all..

Hi there. Glad you had that issue solved. A new release will correct some resizing/repositioning issues that might occur in KDE 4.3.

The miniature previews need to be enabled in the Configuration window > "Appearance" > "Show tooltips on launchers" > "Window thumbnail". Miniatures will only show when composite is enabled (like for panel task manager).

Right-click on a window decoration of an application > "Configure Window Behavior" > and select the "Enable desktop effects" checkbox.

The system needs to have composite support. If you have an NVIDIA or ATI card you need to install that driver first.

btw, i have all the desktop effects disabled (or else i'm unable to run my OS - it becomes all messy)
maybe this is why the thumbnails aren't showing?

It is. To display the thumbnails those effects need to be enabled, the "Taskbar Thumbnails" option at the least need to be enabled in Kwin composite.

Parabolic zooming is a TODO, and will be implemented in a next release.
Right now I'm focusing on usability first, will then look at adding a bit more of eyecandy. :)

Thank you for taking the time to comment, for your suggestions and feedback.

 Task Manager

Good news, the task manager is already implemented, it looks like this:

http://i30.tinypic.com/2r27p5f.jpg

Still need to add separators.
Also included a couple of new features: indicators for tasks requiring attention, multiple thumbnail previews for tasks.
Done some fixes too.

Release should be ready in a few days more. Thank you for the patience guys. :)

 windows go below daisy

I wonder if it is easy to add the option that windows can go below daisy? I feel that would be useful for a widescreen laptop. Thanks!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
