kaffeine Collection mockup

here is a mockup of a collection module for kaffeine.
Amarok has a great collection for your music, but what about your divx and DVDs ?
I think kaffeine can challenge Miro or Vuze and become a movie manager and not only a player.

Some ideas :
* grab the movie info from imdb
* enter/create your movie library (divx/dvd/urls)
* see channels (youtube/dailymotion/...) and streaming
* use the dvb-txt (teletex) (+ imdb?) to show info of the current dvb stream, in the left panel
* a social network for movies (like lastfm)
* the panel \"subtitles\" is dedicated to find subtitles in your/any languages

what do you think ?

Nice concept. Amarok for video. The interface would need some cleaning up though. I like the idea.

I have started this kind mockup month ago and i wanted to get Kaffeine .ui file but it's not in kaffeine sources. Main window is build by somehow other way. There are .ui files for DVB parts but... not current.

I think we need amarok + digikam styled archives.
Actually we could forget Amarok and take only that fast search function idea from there (top search bar and list how albums are listed) and then use digikam way to tag videos.

It shouln't start competition with Amarok, just allow better functions for videos.

And this database should be linked to different sites and use IMDB search functions to add info about movies or get online ratings from there.

I just need to finish my mockup and send it to kaffeine developers...

It's good to see that there are more who wants similar functions to kaffeine. And it's good idea to keep Amarok and Kaffeine different applications and not join them.

After all, we can in future get digika, amarok and kaffeine work together so that if user have digital camera what records video, he sees videos from kaffeine and digikam. If he has microphone and stores info about pictures, he gets these files to amarok and digikam. And if user has musicvideos, he gets them to amarok and kaffeine (all are linked to other apps so not copying files).

KDE is made for users....

What can you give to others?

i agree with you,
it's better to keep one great program for each kind of file (image/movie/music).

i'm waiting for your mockup !

I have started a thread in the kaffeine forum here : http://hftom.free.fr/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=341#341

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
