Minimum required   KDE 4.x

Submitted:  Dec 17 2009
Updated:  May 7 2010

Description:

I've added support for KDE notification system to Gx Mail Notify plasmoid (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/GX+Mail+Notify?content=99617).

Problems:

* No configuration available at the moment. I will work on it...

* Only for Imap! Pop3 is a bit more difficult to handle with...I will work on it if I will have time, I promise!

* One popup for message: at the moment, there is no possibility to show long texts into a single popup (popups don't extends and text is truncated).

* Depending on the encoding of the messages, you could have visualiztion problems: I received a mail where the sender name was uncomprehensive because it was encoded in Latin-1...

Changelog:

0.5
-Added possibility to enable/disable KNotify support

0.4
- Updated to GX Mail Notify 0.4.4
- Added possibility to automatically accept SSL certificates. I have not tested it yet, so if there are problems please tell me!
WARNING: USE THIS OPTION WITH CAUTION!!!

0.3
- Infinite loop when the number of unread mails is relatively high -> FIXED

0.2
- Mails headers not always displayed -> FIXED.

0.1
- Initial release.

 Fork?

Hi, I've tried to apply this patch but I've never gotten the result to compile. Since the original plasmoid is GPL, and the author has stated that he has no immediate plans to work on it, would you be willing to release a full patched version of GX Mail?

Users everywhere would be grateful.

Nevermind, that's what you did. Thanks!

I compiled it and restarted plasma, but I'm not getting the notifications.

I double checked that the old plasmoid was uninstalled, and the correct .so is being used.

I'm on Kubuntu Lucid with KDE 4.4.3.

Anything I can check?

Thanks; I recompiled with the new archive. Now I have the option to enable Knotify, which I did.

Unfortunately, I still don't get any notifications. :(

Thank's for the patched version! But can you fix the compilation error on KDE 4.5 in you sources?
The problem and patch is described here:

Hi, I am using 0.5 on KDE 4.5.1 distributed by Debian, but there is no notify when I receive mail. I have already checked "Enable KNotify Support". What should I do after that?

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
