I tried to follow the instructions, but I think this is different since it's for boot up. Any help would be appreciated.

 Install

You'll note from the screenshot that he's using SuSe. I'm not sure if this will install on all systems, or how to go about installation. I'm going to try it once I find where MDK9 puts its boot splash. Hopefully the author will post some installation instructions.

In Mandrake 9.0, the bootsplash config file is located under /etc/bootsplash/themes/Mandrake/cfg/. The syntax of the bootsplash config files differs between MDK and SuSe. Mandrake defines locations using characters (how wide a character is) rather than pixels like SuSe. Also, I still haven't found where MDK stores the bootsplash PNG. If I can get this to work I will post the steps I took.

 the boot splash

goes in ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics. All the pics go in /pics, and you can put the tar.gzs one level up. So they are ready for swapping.

And that holds for all distros.

ah, just for your information: this is NOT a kde-splash...
and sorry, I have no idea how to install this on other distros than SuSE!

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
