Description:

a very mac-inspired mockup of my vision of a clean and stylisch kdestyle.
now i have two questiions:
1. is it possible to place the addressbar on top of the \'places\' column (like in my mockup)?
2. could anyone post a link to a tutorial where i can learn to actually write such an kdestyle on my own to make it real?

please give feedback and suggestions how to improve this style.

greets

I'd love it if there was a theme like that :) Unfortunately, I have no idea how to make KDE themes. :(

No, due to dolphins tab support (this is not style related, but a UI issue)

It's possible to do the visual changes on the left column (but it's kind of a hack)

Afaik KToolBar does not support a stretch (and fixed size for the search input)

It might be possible to look for these widgets and inject a stretch and constrain the lineedit size.

To do a QStyle, type qt:qstyle in konqueror - you need to talk cpp, though.

 What I like in this

I like the window decoration blending with the menubar/toolbar background. KDE4 needs a good native style that provides this look. Currently, I have to customize colours to get that look, but its hackish and not perfect.

Indeed, using colours to differentiate between different "zones" in the window is soooo much more easier on the eyes than using dividing lines etc... This is the way to go. Unclutter!

 QtCurve and Bespin

I would like as well the possibility to have the breadcrumb top of the sidepanels (both ones). And I use QtCurve 0.69.2 (or bespin SVN 2009-11-20) to have a windowdecoration, menubar and toolbar all nicely smoothed and joined. The QtCurve needs littlebit gradient hacking but not so difficult to do but it will brake the Ctrl(+Alt)+M function.

 Step closer

Now your mockup is one step closer. Now in KDE SC 4.5 the toolbar icons can be configured that specific icons does not have text on them. The only three options remains.

1. Spreadcrumb / Addressbar is not possible get top of the sidepanels.

2. The sidepanel look (depending theme I pressume!) with shadow.

3. Bottom panel where you have zoom/space info is not possible get hided.

I realize that this is old, but the download sends me to the preview jpeg.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
