Description:

This is a translucent infobar / iconbar theme for Karamba for KDE (http://www.efd.lth.se/~d98hk/karamba/ ). I put it together in a few hours, and it's my first real foray into the world of image editing that is The GIMP. It's set up for a 1280 width resolution; to change this, some editing of the .theme files and the images is necessary (mostly cut-and-paste work, I imagine). Of course, feel free to change the sensors / text / graphs etc. to your liking.

README contains the install instructions.

Changelog:

4/07

-corrected some minor graphical anamolies

-added a glass overlay to the iconbar

---
4/06

Hey! why don't I upload the *correct* file!

---
4/06

-better align values for the text to prevent run-off from the screen or graphic elements

-ksysguard clickarea added on free memory

Thank you!

I made this theme for myself, as I wanted something more color-neutral that would work with any color scheme or background. I'm glad others are able to find it useful; positive feedback is always nice.

This was the first time I've done anything other than resize an image in The GIMP, so if anyone has any suggestions or comments feel free to post them here or email them to me.

 a question

Could you please tell to us which fonts, icons, kde theme and color-scheme are you using? i would like to have the same desktop as you :)

If the color-scheme is not a default theme or something similar, it would be good if you post the codes of this color :)

Thanks!

Fonts:

I use the msttcorefonts package. ( http://corefonts.sourceforge.net ). Note there are some licensing issues with some of these fonts. Read the info at the site. Here are the specifics:

General: Verdana 10
Fixed Width: Andale Mono 10
Toolbar: Verdana 9
Menu: Verdana 9
Window Title: Tahoma 10 BOLD
Taskbar: Verdana 8
Desktop Arial 10

Icons: Crystal .85, although I have some of the excellent Noia icons on my Karamba icon bar (The AOL icon is from the IcOSX set, I think). All of these can be found here on kde-look.

I use the glow window decoration from CVS (you can download it separately here, it's recent as of 4.08).

Widget style is Alloy (also here on kdelook).

The background can be found at http://www.subfusion.org - it's called Assembly.

I will post the color scheme right now.

I think that's all you asked about. :) Overall I go for a clean, useable desktop. I'm the only one looking at it all day, and I do a lot of work under kde. Too much eye-candy and the like makes it an unusable, but pretty, toy.

 a variation

aaronjb, I've made a variation of your iconbar that sits at the bottom of the screen (cut and paste work, like you said).

Is it OK to upload it as a variation on your theme?

No need to ask, really. :) Go right ahead and upload - the more choices people have, the better!

I really like this theme - thanks a lot. In the code, you say that it's 'unfinished' because you need a graphical disk space app runnable from the command line. KDiskFree *is* runnable from the command line, which I just found out while looking for something to stick in there.

The program is 'kdf' .

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
