THAT WINDOWS GETS ALL OF THE BEST LINuX ARTWORK AND LINUX USErS gET NONE OF THE COOOL XP ARTWORK LIKE NOKIA Icons and OTHER coOL THINGS! Why don't linux users repackage XP fan sumbitted artwork to Linux, XP users take linux artwork all the time.

are a bit confused. A great deal of the icons submitted here ARE ports from other OS like XP and especially OS X.

 Because...

KDE and Gnome still aren't capable of the eye-candy that XP and OS X provide. I've seen screenshots of certain XP themes that made me go "I... want... that..... Gimme... that... in... KDE..." but it's simply not possible (yet).

Just look at this:

http://www2.truman.edu/~d2550/desktoppic.jpg

I'd love to have a menu looking like that. But I'm not a Windows user, so.

Besides that, KDE (and Gnome2) are lacking _fantastic_ themes (I mean window decorations here, mainly) like the ones available for Enlightenment. In fact, there's not even a KWin window decoration like *Step/NeXT! I found 1 IceWM one, but it was totally broken and IceWM isn't as good as KWin...

*sigh* :(

Apart from the usully poorly done XP themes (the kicker never seems to look XPish and icons look bad) there is practically nothing ehre from the XP community. However there isa lot from the Linux community on their site.

I'm not going to debate on this. People are trying even though you discount their efforts. I love Linux and KDE specifically, but let's not forget the less then stellar display system(s) were stuck with and it's limitations. Perhaps you should give it a go?

You just have to look for them. New stuff is being generated every single day. I will see if the authors will give me permission to post them over here.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
