 A great idea but...

... it would be hard to create a function you have shown in your picture. I mean the notifications near the dock icon of the corresponding application. What would happen if there would be need to show a notification of application which would not be in the dock? I think it would be really hard to create something like this.

Yes is true infact the notication system must/could be improved by the kde developper, also for the tray I can't do a lot beacouse the behavior is menaged by defoult.. I think that for now can develop only the dock launcher/taskbar functionality..

 Lancelot part?

I think that what you propose is similar, but not a clone of what Lancelot part does if it's added to your panel.
I proposed similar idea on KDE-forum -> Lancelot brainstorm...
Hope that Ivan will someday implement it in a similar way..

i don't think, that it is like lancelot...

(for me) it looks more like a mix of mac os dock and windows 7 taskbar, just better ;)

you should (of course) be able to add the lancelot plasmoid :)

No not the whole Lancelot, but a widget called "Lancelot part" which shows only one subdirectory of a menu.
Like only games/strategy games.

 would it be better?

by frustphil on: Jan 27 2009

How about replacing middle click with mouse-over? Not all users have middle button so it's a usability issue. While we're at it..when I hover on a particular icon on the taskbar, it would be much better if it will generate a windows 7 like effect(previews of the apps in the same category) instead of what you have in the screenshot, IMO...

I can't imagine how you would implement your notification design along with the KDE's default notification though.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
