Set as Wallpaper : Servicemenu

KDE Service Menu

Set as Wallpaper : Servicemenu

Submitted:  Apr 19 2004

Description:

Just another Service Menu to set an image as a wallpaper. I hope I was one of the many kde users who hated the idea of Kdesktop crashing the moment an image file was dragged on to it or for that matter too lazy to open the Background Setting from KControl. This is a shortcut to get an beautiful image right where it belongs :)

Changelog:

This is not my original idea.Just found a site describing the same.

Same here, never crashing under Mdk 9.0, 9.1 and now 10, and I am a real fan of drag'n'drop, so... I'll send it to my Debian-using friends ;). greetz

Seems to be OK at my end. Well its not such a big deal actually. Just create a text file called "Set as Wallpaper.desktop" in your $HOME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus and add the following lines to it.

[Desktop Entry]
ServiceTypes=image/*
Actions=Background;tile

[Desktop Action Background]
Name=Set Wallpaper
Icon=thumbnail
Exec=dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface setWallpaper %f 1

[Desktop Action tile]
Name=Set as Tiled Wallpaper
Icon=thumbnail
Exec=dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface setWallpaper %f 2

Thats it!!

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
