Description:

This is a set of widget styles for Qt4/KDE4, KDE3 and Gtk2 based apps.

0.49 is the first version to have a Qt4/KDE4 port. This version may be compiled with just Qt4 - in which case the KDE4 control panel config dialog will not be built. See the INSTALL file for more details.

The fonts and colours for the GTK themes will be read in from your Qt settings - so any KDE font/colour changes will also affect your GTK apps.

NOTE: kde-look.org had a server crash, and the original QtCurve entry was deleted.

Changelog:

KDE4

1.5.2
-----
1. Apply opacity settings to inactive tabs.
2. Add config option of apps that should not use menu opacity.

4. If drawing an inner frame for kwin decorations, draw after titlebar has been drawn.
5. Fix blurry arrows in Amarok's collection browser.
6. qmake updates - thanks to Hugues Delorme.
7. Dont call killTimer if timer was never registered - fixes Qt warning on app closure under windows. Thanks to Hugues Delorme.
8. When setting KDE SC4.5 blur-behind hint, only set rects that can actually be blurred - should speed things up. (Idea and code stolen from Bespin)
9. Fix non-styled background of scroll areas with no frame - such as in plasma's configure desktop mouse actions page.
10. Don't force alternate listview colours for KDM - looks bad!

8. Dont apply background opacity setting to; plasma (seems to cause an icon for plasma to appear in the taskbar), kwin, or screensavers (prevents these from being displayed).
9. Add config option of apps to exclude from background opacity setting. Defaults to amarok, dragon, kscreenlocker, and smplayer.
10. Dont draw transparent windows if compositing is turned off.
11. Fix missing titlebar/taskbar icons in some apps (e.g. dolphin and kcalc) when using background transparency - thanks to Thomas Lübking.
12. Fix Qt4.5 compilation.
13. Fix colour of arrow-style min/max kwin buttons with dark colour schemes.

 Transparency bug

 by Num83rGuy on: Jul 6 2010

When using window transparency plasma-desktop acts as a normal window and shows up in the task-bar.

Tell me what you need from me to find out this bug and fix it

 titlebar white line

by yagami on: Jul 9 2010

hi

i am trying out your style , using it with the background transparent.

unfortunatly , when using window deco borders, the titlebar ends vertically with a misterious white line.

if i select no borders, the white line is gone.

is there a way to remove the white line ?

thanks

sure : :)

see here : http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2489/qtcurveproblem.jpg

there is a little white line just below the titlebar and above the toolbar.

see here for after the "dark outer border" option fix :

http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/qtcurve+transparent?content=127278.

thanks for the style :) i really love how my kde looks now :)

by the way , is there problems with using transparent windows ? besides the embeded video players windows ?

also , is it normal for kopete to take almost 1 minute to startup when using bespin xbar ? is there a qtcurve xbar ?

thanks :)

Thanks for posting a screenshot. White line looks like a bug - I'll try to fix.

Problems with transparent windows? Don't know - I don't use this option! I only have KDE SC4.4, so no blur effect.

As for kopete - do yo have this 1 minute hang using bespin as well? (The XBar code is stolen from bespin).

...weird, I don't seem to be able to produce this problem. Can you use QtCurve's config dialog to export your settings, and send them to me? (my email address is QtCurve's AUTHORS file). Thanks.

sure.

i will send it asap

i havent tried it right now, but i am pretty sure it didnt happen with bespin. ( since i was using bespin before trying out qtcurve )

by the way , kopete is the only app that does this , and freezes all plasma.

thanks :)

VLC seems fine with transparency.
While SMPlayer will not show video.
I am not sure about any other Qt/KDE video players.

smplayer will work fine if you set it to "use own video window"

it will make it play video on another window though

hope it helps :)

Well, the default behavior in 1.5.1 is to exclude SMPlayer from RGBA and I just leave it at that.

 Tabs and translucency

by steveke on: Jul 12 2010

Hi,

First thank you so much for the recent translucency addition - It's really piqued my interest in QtCurve again ;)

I have a query about inactive tabs. Is it intentional that translucency isn't applied?

Cheers!

 Re: Tabs and translucency

by CraigD on: Jul 12 2010

yes, and no...

Yes - because the transparency is only applied to the background colour - and the active tabs 'fade' from the gradient setting into the background.

No - because I could probably apply the translucency to the inactive tabs. I'll play around with this, and release a an update if it looks better.

Thanks for the explanation Craig. That makes sense now.

It would be great if you could arrange translucency for inactive tabs. I feel that currently they tend to appear more prominent than the active tab because they are opaque.

Cheers!

 Transparency bugs with Flash

by MaMuS on: Jul 13 2010

Hello, it seems that activating the new menu transparency in qtcurve makes flash render up as a Gray box in every browser.

Had some trouble finding this, but once I edited "~/.config/qtcurve/stylerc" and deleted the line "menuBgndOpacity=90" flash began to work again.

This is firefox output when deling with gray boxes:

"every browser"? Arora? reKonq? Konqueror? Chrome? Firefox?

Also, which version of firefox are you using? The translucency *should* automatically be disabled for all mozilla apps. What does

firefox --version

produce?

Just tried with firefox 4.0 - transparency *was* automatically disabled, and flash worked fine.

Tried with konqueror (KDE SC4.5, Qt 4.6) and menu transparency set to 90. Both the konqueror and flash menus were translucent - and again, flash worked just fine.

I tested with Firefox 3.6.6, Konqueror and Chromium 5.0.375.99.

I'm also using KDE 4.5 rc2, QT 4.6.3, QtCurve 1.5.1 and nvidia 256.35.

I've also loaded the Flat preset, activated the menu translucency and the bug reappears.

Re: Re: Transparency bugs with Flash

Looks like its NVidia related then. As at work (where I have KDE SC4.5) I have intel graphics - and it appears OK.

At home, I use NVidia - and I can see the problem with konqueror and chromium. I've worked around this by excluding menu opacity for plugin viewers used for flash.

Can you email me - so that I can send you a Gtk2 and KDE4 version to check that it also fixes the issue for you? My email address is in the AUTHORS file.
