Very useful program, congratulations.
I made a rpm for Mandriva and the Greek translation: http://www.mandrivalinux.gr/rpm/2010.1/noarch/pdfktools-servicemenu-kde4-0.1-1mgr2010.2.noarch.rpm

Thanks for your comment and the Greek translation :)
Nevertheless, I don't have access to http://www.mandrivalinux.gr/dimitrios/pdfktools.desktop and http://www.mandrivalinux.gr/dimitrios/pdfktools_el.po. For the both files, I have an "ERROR 403: Forbidden" :'( Could you modify this access, please ? Thanks.

 Noshow in kde 4.6

by anderslund on: Feb 28 2011

I installed this, but it fails to show in dolphin and konqueror in kde 4.6.0

I used the tool from cli, and it worked fine though, except I feel insecure weather I can cancel all the metadata questions and still fulfill the process?

kbuildsycoca4 actually complained about a missing semicolon in the Actions list of the desktop file, so adding that helps :-)

This is very strange. I use KDE 4.6.0 (Arch Linux) and it works for me.
If gs (ghostscript), kdialog and exiftool are not in your PATH, the service menu is automatically hidden. Please, check if these applications are in your PATH, for example with the command 'whereis' (whereis gs,...).

About the metadata, when you cancel all the questions, the file is re-written with the same metadata if they exist.

Thanks.
In the 'Compress' window the items of the list are in english (default/low/medium/good/excellent). Is it possible to translate them too? (I don't find them in the .po file...)

 error during edit metadata

by otomi on: Apr 27 2012

Score 50%

I have got an error when I tried to edit metadata. It says: "Error during the metadata edition of xxx.pdf"
Do you have any idea, what causes this message? Is that a common error, or it is maybe some permission problem at my system?

(I ran the program from the local menu of Dolphin file manager.)

Foremost, verify that exiftool is really in your $PATH (with: whereis exiftool).
Then, do you have this error with another file? Perhaps your file contains some DRM limitations.
An error log is available in $(kde4-config --path tmp)pdfktools.log, it can help you to solve your problem. Or copy it in a comment in order to have more details.

Well, thanks for your reply. I don't really know, what helped, because I've upgraded my Kubuntu to 12.04. And after that it works fine. :-)

(exiftool is in /usr/bin/exiftool, and the file has no DRM protection)

I also get this message on every conversion I do (but conversion is ok).

I'm on openSUSE have this packages installed:
i | exiftool | Paket | 8.40-8.1.2 | x86_64 | openSUSE-12.1-Oss
i | perl-Image-ExifTool | Paket | 8.65-12.1 | noarch | (Systempakete)

But these packages don't provide any executable file in /usr/bin/* for example.

So is/are these the correct exiftool packages I need!?

The edition and the backup of the metadata use exiftool. Although you have installed the good package, perhaps exiftool is not in your $PATH (there was a similar bug for Arch Linux).
So, first, verify that exiftool is really in your $PATH, using the following command: whereis exiftool
If exiftool is not in your $PATH, you can find it with this command: find /usr -name "exiftool" -type f
So, you can report this bug in your distribution and/or you can create a symbolic link for exiftool: ln -s /usr/bin/vendor_perl/exiftool /usr/bin/exiftool where /usr/bin/vendor_perl/exiftool is the response of the previous command.

Reinstalled manually the same rpm I've installed through zipper and now everything is ok, exiftool is in my $PATH and everything works. Thanks!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
