Ow! My bars! - SVG concept

Description:

I was playing around in Inkscape again and this time I came up with some liquidy/glassy bars. I think any of these would look pretty sweet as a theme's progress bar. Just imagine them swirling around...

My Inkscape SVG file is available to download here if anyone is motivated enough to do something constructive with it.

In the screenshot you will notice the completely grayscale bars at the top (which is how they look in the SVG file) and below are the same bars with a simple color layer placed over top in The Gimp. Originally, I imagined the "swirls" being a different color from the bar itself, which is easily done with the SVG file.

Unfortunately, I have no plans to implement this into any sort of theme as I am completely lacking in QT/KDE programming skills. However, if you would like to code this up, I am more than willing to help in any way that I can.

*** Please note, this is not a working theme. This is just a drawing of what I think would make a pretty sweet little widget. ***

Looks cool. I'm not quite fluid enough in qt/kde to put this in a style _yet_, but I'm downloading it _just_in_case_ I get that far.
Just working on window decs for now.

cheers,

The best thing about owning a Linux box is it's mine and you cant play in it.

hmmm... I'm not really sure what I would have to say that isn't already covered by the excellent tutorials that come with Inkscape (see Help > Tutorials). If you're familiar with Inkscape, then all you should really have to do is download this SVG file and see how I made them. They're actually pretty simple - not counting the repeating stripes, each bar consists of only 3-5 different shapes.

 Impressive...

...but it's GPL, which is copyleft. Unsuitable for my theme. If it was BSD or MIT, I'd use it.
Anyway, good work! *votes good*

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
