Description:

This plasmoid provides a way to mount/unmount devices from fstab (e.g. network shares), show free space and open mount point location in a file manager. It is fully configurable.

It now supports fusefs and sshfs.

For sshfs I don't know though how to bring up a dialog box to enter the user password, so you'll need a ".ssh/id_rsa" file. By the way if anyone of you knows how to interact with a KProcess through StdIn in order to enter a password to ssh's request, then please inform me since I've been looking for how to make this for some time now, to no avail...

Changelog:

v0.33
=====
(*) fixed : settings dialog's windows is huge. Split into one more category

v0.32
=====
(*) fixed : unkonwn device type (e.g. floppy drive) leads to applet crashing

v0.30
=====
(*) added : sshfs (no password) and fuse
(*) added : listview in addition of the usual iconview
(*) added : possibility to add devices from the contextual menu
(*) added : possibility to change the display order of devices, either in the configuration dialog or by dragging icons with the mouse (iconview only)
(*) added : possibility to change display settings (e.g. icons stacking orientation) from the contextual menu
(*) fixed : use of KRun to open mount points instead of ad-hoc KProcess with custom file manager
(*) better data/view separation in the code (needed to add the listview functionality, and allows faster implementation of new kind of views)

v0.20
=====
(*) fixed : colors modified by user are not restored
(*) fixed : plasmoid size sometimes is not restored
(*) added : numeric free/used/total space values in nickname
(*) added : possibility to load/eject (or turn on/off) a device

With the 0.31, Kubuntu 9.10 /KDE 4.3.2/Qt 4.5.2

Here the problem seems to be the old floppy drive / markings in the fstab.
(/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0)

If i disable the floppy from the fstab. It is possible to add the mountoid in the desktop. Everything seems to work OK.

If i enable the floppy and remount everything (mount -a). Trying to add the mountoid to the desktop: Crash - with the 0.31 there is a notification: http://yfrog.com/4jmountoidp. "Out of range error..."

Hi,
Looks like it is broken in KDE 4.3.4 (Fedora 12).
I look forward to the updated version.

Thanks,

What kind of "broken" is it? Maybe it is related to the problem I just fixed involving floppy drives, so the latest version should work. Would you please test it and report back whether it works?
Thanks!

 Mandriva rpm

 by dglent on: Dec 23 2009

Here is the rpm with the new version
http://www.mandrivalinux.gr/rpm/2010.0/i586/plasma-applet-mountoid-0.32-1mgr2010.0.i586.rpm

- The configuration window is very big and i cant change the dimensions

- i see in your screenshot the linux device has the icon with the linux logo. can be added from the configuration panel ? (the current icon is a question mark)

great plasmoid, i think it must be included to kde officialy. Is something that was missing from kde plasma desktop

You're right, the settings windows was way too huge. I reorganized things a bit to shrink it.
You can change the "OS" icon in the config dialog, section "devices", with a custom one (the default icon depends on some standard kde icon which may not be so standard :) )

You just need to select "other" instead of "linux" in the combobox. It doesn't matter anyway, the name's just to use predefined icons.
