This is a Bootsplash Screen which is developed for the following resolutions:
800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024

To install: do the following

1 extract to /etc/bootsplash/themes/
example: /etc/bootsplash/themes/matrix-splash

2 use Yast bootsplash theme changer-by mouseclicks: Yast>system>/etc/sysconfig Editor>system>boot>theme>type name of theme (matrix-splash)>finish

3 as superuser (root) type in terminal:
mkinitrd -s (size)x(size)
eg mkinitrd -s 1280x1024

In version 1.5 to install GRUB splah:
1- $ su
2- # mv /boot/message /boot/message.old
3- # cp message /boot/message
4- restart your computer and enjoy!

Version 2.0:
Include also a kde splash screen based on the Moodin engine! To see the preview go here: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=28411

Version 1.5:
The bootsplash is the same of the 1.0 but to this version we have added the splash screen for GRUB!

In this newer and better version... v 1.0 we have:
1- the new progress bar in silent mode
2- a little different background for verbose!

(Version v1.0 tar.gz)
(Version 1.5 with also grub splash!)
(Version 2.0 with grub splash and also kde splash)

bootsplash i fixed: in the 1024x768 config file there´s a type failure in the path of the silent file (it says matrix-spash instead of matrix-splash).

Nice bootsplash

In order to get the message working you could do the following:

-mkdir /tmp/message
-mkdir /tmp/message2
-cd /tmp/message
-cpio -i < /boot/message
-cd /tmp/message2
-cpio -i < /<path to matrixdirectory>/grub/message
-cp back.jpg ../message
-cd /tmp/message
-ls . | cpio -o > message
-cp message /boot

That's it.

Make sure to backup the original /boot/message

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
