Klipart Stencil Collections

Description:

Kivio is a flowcharting and diagramming application for the KOffice application suite, and has an userinterface that is simliar to Visio®. It is fully integrated into KOffice and can for example be embeded into KWord.

The Klipart Stencil Collections for Kivio consists of the following categories:
* Block Diagram
* Flowcharting
* Organization Chart
* Network (computer hardware, telecom, ...)
* Software (GUI design, UML, ...)
* Miscellaneous (map, flags, symbols, furniture, electric, buildings, ...)

Each category has it's own icon and contains some stencils for Kivio.

Installation Notes:
-------------------
1) Unpack the *.tar.gz package
2) Copy the files in this package to $KDEDIR/share/apps/kivio/
3) Start Kivio
4) Now you should be able to use the new stencils
(Note: The stencils were tested on Kivio 1.3 beta 2. They'll probabily also work on earlier Kivio releases, but I'm not sure of that.)

How to contribute to the Kivio Stencil Collections?
---------------------------------------------------
There's still a lot of work to be done, like e.g. crystal icons for the stencils, rearrange some of the stencil categories, ... and last but not least: stencils :o) So everyone's invited to contribute to this project! All finished stencil sets will be available in Kivio 1.3, the other stencil sets will be included in the next Kivio releases, probably together with a stencil set installer.

Changelog:

The Klipart Stencil Collections are a work in progress, this means that some of the stencils aren't finished, and some stencils are missing. If you have any questions concerning Klipart or if you have made some images and you want to share them with other Kivio users, please mail me at borrey@kde.org or post a message in this forum.

This release features improved network stencils and a new set of icons for the "flowchart" and "diagram" stencils. I also converted the diagram shapes to Kivio's native SML format.

 KOffice ui

When do the KOffice people finally learn to use KToolBar instead of QToolBar??! Some styles like keramik look really ugly.

Also eyes are eating...

Hmmm where exactly do you see a QToolbar? As far as I know it isn't used anywhere in KOffice. KOffice is using kxmlgui pretty extensivly so...
Oh and I *know* it isn't used Kivio as I'm the maintainer of it....

I think he's referring to the non-stretched toolbars.

Well that has nothing to do with which version of Q|KToolBar you use... It's a property of both...

Are you sure?

If I remember right applications like KWrite, Kate, Konqu or Ark use KToolBar. If I am going to add a QToolBar (for example to my own Qt apps)I receive a look like the ugly one of KOffice.

And by the way: It's not only the stretching that I am missing. Also the seperators in the toolbars are wrong drawed. Have a look onto the picture. These are vertical lines of Qt's Windows style. Be happy that Keramik is used in the example. Styles like Liquid also draw a very mistoken background under these separators.

Regards

maybe I am blind, but I see nothing different than the usual K-interface. Where should we look again?

To answer your questions and to legitimate my critics I provide you some screenshots:

1st:
a "nice" KToolBar example of old friend konqueror.

http://www.uni-weimar.de/~wolff3/kdelook/konqu.png

2nd:
a much better Q(?)ToolBar of KOffice (here: Kivio as one of the most disgusting examples ;-) )

http://www.uni-weimar.de/~wolff3/kivio.png

note: KSpread, KChart and (partially) KWord work correct.

I assume that these drawing errors refer to a central bug in KStyle. All KDE styles have problems with this issue. Of course at 1st the KOffice developers need to change their ui a bit. But its not acceptable that simple Qt apps will also look like this. That's why we need to update the style engine at 2nd.

Maybe there can be found someone that can proof this suggestion.

Any toolbar set to not stretch to the full width of the window will look that way so I'd say it's a style problem

There's also problems with the seperators (the vertical lines) not being coloured the same (the grey background shows through). There's lots of non-standard wigets - which look awful. For example the font-colour selector - this doesn't work as per normal KDE toolbar buttons. Why doesn't this use the same style as that of konqueror's back/forward buttons?

On a related not, and applies to all KDE apps, KRadioAction(?) buttons (such as the bold, italic, etc buttons) don't have the mouse-over affect. This makes it harder to distinguish if the button is active or not. And is also incosistent...

can you fix it, so it can be used in kivio 1.0

thx

Some of these stencils won't work on older versions of Kivio since the older versions only support Kivio's native SML (Stencil Markup Language) format. Kivio 1.3 supports SML, Dia Shapes and SPY (Smart SML stencils with Python support).

Maybe it's a good time to consider switching to Kivio 1.3 (Koffice 1.3). Besides better stencil support, Kivio 1.3 is also more stable and offers a much better GUI.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
