I.M.P. Menu Ideal for KDE 4.1 By Sam Robins www.sjrlinux.com

Hello I come to this ideal from many things.

1> A icon added to the panel to launch in a single click and does not get covered up by other windows
is to me fastest way to access a program.

2> if you did all your programs that way you end up with a panel cluttered with tons of icons of your
favorite programs on your panel right. hence we have a menu.

3> Then I seen you can under compiz set your computer to preview a program window you have minimized.

4> Then later I seen on KDE look org this menu ideal.

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/KPlanetaryMenu+%5Bidea%5D?content=88162

5> My ideal is this.

ATTENTION: Please enlarge the screen shots and read the graphical flowcharts.

This menu is not made created to replace kickoff/menu on KDE 4.1
it is menu to give KDE 4.1 more Enhancement and uniqueness and allow the user more flexibility

IMP menu in my opinion allows you fast easy way to build all way up in order
of what apps are most important to you to all apps if wish.
At same time eliminating the need for a category icon button click

so in general if common person had 4 icons on there screen they could have 1 click
method to launching 16 aps in total without clutter.

And menu branch that places less needed aps up the ladder while still not showing clutter
below.

I am currently going to act on my Ideal and start developing of this ideal. Its been a long time since I have program(all way back in the basica, Fortran, b and pascal days) But I am wanting to get back into developing again. So this is the ideal I am going with. If anyone is interested feel free to contact me.

Please post me your input and criticism. I appreciate either. And thank you in advance.

Best Regard
Sam Robins

Changelog:

*********ADDED NEW PICTURE TO SITE MORE DISCRIPTIVE and direct from DOWNLOAD*****

*UPDATE TO INFORMATION NOT POSTED.
The first icon on panel when fill in
text should or can be named for the
catagory in which you build ICONS above.

example: System,Multimedia,graphics,places,
Internet and so on.

IF you use a catagory name on first icon it allows you hover over icon and
see what catagory is grouped to
possibly could set this text to always be on to have the base menu listings if say you prefered use imp for total menu
support.

9/1/08: added to ideal. if you set the double click the main icon or the green arrow it shows branch panel above IF YOU have under KDE MENU EDITOR check to double click mode. If so you need place check in lock or unlock on same panel to lock and unlock panels

IF double click is not checked then u can lock and unlock panels by double green arrow or main icon.

also can set in kde menu editor to hide the branchs below your mouse that not active if you choose make panel invisible.

ADDED Idea to make when move a branch to edge of screen it will lean the branches to allow you corner branch also
if make branch off desktop icon it will make circle of icons around the center main icon. and if move the deskop icon branch to edge of screen it will make a semi-shere.

Also will add shortcuts to I.M.P.

Thank you.

I didn't think about shortcuts until you
mention them. I diffently agree and will
work to add them as well.(Much appreciated)

Best Regards
Sam Robins

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
