 Network problems

 by dshrek on: Apr 5 2016

Score 50%

Since a couple of days the applet doesn't function anymore. When I click on the applet I get the message: "Der Zugriff auf das Netzwerk ist nicht gestattet" (access to network is not permitted).
Unfortunately I have no idea what has happened as the applet always worked fine before and I am not aware of any recent changes/updates.

Sorry, that problem was on my side. None of my applets had a network connection, though everything else using network worked fine. After reinstalling network-manager, purging plasma-widget-networkmanagement or after today's kernel update, everything works fine (not sure which of the three solved the problem)...

 Gmail Feed is not showing up in Widget List

 by trekjunky on: Apr 15 2016

Score 50%

I go to the download widgets and choose Gmail Feed and click Install. It doesn't appear in the list. I reboot and it says it is not installed, so I reinstall it, it asks to overwrite the file, I say yes, and it appears to install, but it doesn't show up in the list. I can't figure this out. Please help.

You can't install it with GetHotNewStuff, because it works only with purely scripted plasmoids. (I know, it's misleading but there is only one category available for Plasma 5 plasmoids)
You have to install it manually. (ie download the source, extract, go in the directory, mkdir build, cd build, cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DLIB_INSTALL_DIR=lib -DKDE_INSTALL_USE_QT_SYS_PATHS=ON, then make and make install)

Hi, I followed these instructions and rebooted, but the plasmoid is still not showing up in my list. I did receive an error when running cmake and had to use the following:

git clone git://anongit.kde.org/extra-cmake-modules
cd extra-cmake-modules
mkdir build && cd build
cmake ..
make && sudo make install

Not sure if that's why I can't get it to work? Thanks for any help, I would love to use this plasmoid.

 Display Headers Always

 by aschkolnik on: May 10 2016

Score 50%

Hi

When I move my mouse over the Gmail Feed icon, I see the message:
5 unread messages

However, I do not see the subjects.
If I am not mistaken, the subjects are displayed when a new message arrives, but not after.
Is this the intended behavior ?
I would like to see the subjects every time I move the mouse over the icon.
Is there any way to make that happen ?

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
