Free space on plugged devices and...

Submitted:  Aug 20 2008

Description:

Why can't we know how much is the space left on "recently plugged devices" plasmoid?

Furthermore, why can't we reach the action we want directly from here?
A little menu with the actions could appear with just the mouse cursor over an arrow...

---- edit ----

I've posted this idea here:

http://forum.kde.org/show-space-left-on-devices-t-46314.html

http://forum.kde.org/submenu-for-available-actions-for-plugged-devices-t-46315.html

splitted into two ideas because otherwise it cannot be approved

So I'm getting pretty close, I've got it working but it needs some polishing. Visual and code. Tell me what you think...

The patch for free space indicator is sitting in reviewboard now, but there has been discovered a bug in plasma, which prevents proper functioning (just painting actually, functions are ok), so until this bug is fixed, it won't be much usable...

You can grab it and test it here (it's for trunk): http://reviewboard.kde.org/r/632/diff/7/raw/

 Looks good to me

The preview image is a bit small and hard to read, but from what I can tell it looks good.

Having the ability to look at disk usage on removable media would definitely be a plus, especially for Linux (or even KDE) newcomers. I think it's a step in the right direction.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
