I once saw a very good howto about service menus. Do you have the URL?

Could you please post it?

To mess up a Linux box, you need to work at it; to mess up your Windows box, you just need to work on it.

Thanks for writing this, it's pretty cool!

Would it be possible to have it detect whether the file is executable, and show either "make file executable" or "make file not executable" in the Action menu, rather than placing both actions in a submenu? Or is that too complex for servicemenus?

This "improvement" is not necessary. The ability to easily change the file permission to executable already exists in the properties dialog.

While it may seem a convenience to allow this on the service menu, you should stop and think if you want users to be changing file permissions without first understanding the concepts behind the permissions dialog.

IMHO...

Why i think these service menus make KDE more like windows with it security problems?

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
