Description:

Hi, i\'ve modified an image from the Rafael Fernandez Lopez\'s blog ( http://www.ereslibre.es/?p=35 ), i think that have icons that changes if there are files, is nice for the usability.
For example i\'ve used the original oxygen folder icon for folders without files and the home icon for folders with files.
(I\'m not so good in graphics :) )

 Icons

I would like to see icons what tell how deep is directory tree, max 3 directory.
Folder icon would have number or tabs on it to show is it 1, 2, 3 or more deeper directory tree.

Number (or folder tabs) would not tell how many files or what kind files there is inside, just is there more directories inside than just one level.

ps. is that somekind mockup for dolphine theme or is it style what makes that button looks so good on pressed?

KDE it just must be...

Uhm, actually i don't know, the image is from Rafael Fernandez Lopez\'s blog ( http://www.ereslibre.es/?p=35 ), I've just edited the icons. Btw I think it's a mockup, but I'm not sure :)

Hi,

It is not a mockup, you can even find the patches on the web page you pointed out before.

The style I used for the screenshot is not the final style, but is a preliminar version of Oxygen style. I was just proposing how categories drawing could look like at the Oxygen style.

What if the folder has hidden stuff, does that show there or not, if not a user could delete the dir thinking its empty or if it was shown then the point of hiding something would be lost, if you entered a folder with 5 items in it but it was empty you'd know they were hidden, but what if someone wants to hide it for a reason?

I think that with a folder with only hidden files would appear as one without files.
Probably the problem is that a user can think that that folder is empty and so delete it. But also actually if you enter in a folder and you don't have the "show hidden files" active you'll see any files. And also in this case you'll think that the folder is empty and so delete it.
Or maybe it would be nice if, with "show hidden files" it show the folder as one with files, and with it disable as a empty folder.
What do you think?

I would like to add something. If you drag a file into a folder, the folders icon should change on hover.
This is a little detail i like on apples osx ui. You drag a file and while you hover the icon of a folder with your dragged content, the folders icon changes into an open folder. This will show the user that it is possible what he's trying to do.
Hope you understand what i mean, if you don't know osx.

The OSX icons changes are really pretty good and we may need them for usability...
And about folder with hidden files... You really can make a special icon/add an emblem for folders, containing hidden files/folders... I think emblems are quite easy to make and maybe preferable, coz I don't understand, how to show, that there are both hidden and normal files/folders inside folder... or only hidden... emblems are better for me

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
