i have a strange problem with my theme:
if i call images using createImage, the images are only displayed when calling the theme via the console from within the theme-directory. any other way to call the theme fails on this (load from frontend/other theme). any ideas on this?

Just wanted to point out that I'm having the same problem with KDE version 3.0.Thought that was a problem in Lindows but it also happens in Debian.

Sorry, I'm so busy to comment on that now. Please, come back later.

I too have this problem. KDE 3.1 on Mandrake 9.2 doesn't recognize the "index.desktop" file supplied with the Crystal icon set as an icon theme file. I'm a newbie, and I have no idea how to go about installing the icon set.

The theme installer has been broken for a while I believe. (I never saw it work in any distro). Maybe there is even a bug report on bugs.kde.org.

As for the Crystal theme not installing that is different. It works fine on my mdk 9.2. Go to the looknfeel->icons->install new theme.
In the file selector choose the crystall tarball. (Make sur you DO NOT unzip the tarball)
Done!

 Quickswitch frontend

I was just wondering if anyone could design either a (Super)Karamba or Kicker applet which served as a frontend for Quickswitch (http://edgesolutions.ca/article.php?sid=21)
I can't find anything in linux which accomplishes what this program does and which is simple. I first wrote a basic shellscript to do the job and then found this program. What prompted it is that my thinkpad laptop came with a very nice windows application for switching between networks. I'd like something like that for linux since that is all my laptop is ever booted in. I searched allready for a frontend for this program but I am open to other suggestions and solutions. Ideas anyone ?

Cheers,

TightCode

 karamba w/ no perl

 by diogo86 on: Dec 1 2003

i'm tring to add a sensor to access an url with no output (its expected - just to access)

the perl script is working great when loaded from the shell (perl blah.pl) but when added to my theme with:

TEXT X=0 Y=0 SENSOR=PROGRAM PROGRAM="meuip.pl" LINE=1 COLOR=0,0,0 FONTSIZE=0 INTERVAL=1000

it does not work as well. also another perl program at the same script (to check mail) doesn't work at the theme but does by shell.

i have another theme which loads a perl and it works.

donno what to do. any idea?

thanx!

It seems like a path problem to me: here's how I would deal with this.
TEXT X=0 Y=0 SENSOR=PROGRAM PROGRAM="/home/cbuffin/../meuip.pl" LINE=1 COLOR=0,0,0 FONTSIZE=0 INTERVAL=1000
Where /home/cbuffin/../ is the complete path to the perl script.
Doing this works, but I'd like a more elegant solution, so I'll watch for that.

 moving windows

Would it be possible to create the ability to move a window to the next or previous desktop by moving the mouse wheel up or down while over the title bar?

Should be.
Do you want to code yourself, or is this rather a feature request? ;-)

So lets go with feature request =D

 X Cursor howto?

by flyingwalrus on: Dec 23 2003

Score 50%

am trying to hack up an x cursor theme, but can't find a howto anywhere.

Specifically, for starters i'm trying to remove the shadows from an existing theme ( so that the nvidia hardware cursor will work ).

I need to figure out:
1. what format are the files in? they appear to be executable, and 'file' just tells me they're lsb compliant.
2. after i figure how to extract them, how do i save them back to this format?

thnx

there's a howto included in this package:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=4805
it may answer some of your questions

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
