 ?? about wallpaper

by digduality on: Jan 14 2008

I'm trying to create a pretty cohesive theme on this machine and i don't get it.

I have a KDM theme.. it loads properly, i log in, my ksplash comes up.. but the background (not of ksplash itself) is a default blue color. And then KDE pops up with my wallpaper of choice.

How do i change the color of the background/wallpaper as Ksplash is displaying?

I've done this before but no idea how i did it. And it's not always just a default color.. (speaking my memory here, not recently). I've seen old wallpapers show up during this window of time i'm speaking up during the DE boot process.

anyone have any ideas?

It normaly shows KDM's wallpaper before loading KDesktop's one.

The place you seek is:

KDE Control Center -> Login Manager -> Background

(Note that the Login Manager is *not* the KDM Theme manager; the two interact, but they are not identical.)

 Uploading many image

by Zeralas on: Jan 28 2008

Hello all, I'm new to the site and have yet to figure out how I'm supposed to upload multiple files or at least multiple versions of one file without having to go to a separate "add content" page each time. For example, I've uploaded a few wallpapers, but they are really just different coloration options that seems more like a waste of space to have to upload many times. Is there a way to have one main file (like the one that has a thumbnail/screenshot) and then other files attached on that same page? I've seen a few others do it, like if they wanted to upload different resolutions of one image so that the other sizes are optional links to download on the same page, but when I go to do it I only have one option to "Upload" and the rest tell me to put a hyperlink in for another file. IS that the only way, meaning I'd have to have other resolutions of a file hosted somewhere in order to link to the original file page? Or am I missing an option somewhere to just upload, say, 3 images to the same page?

hello all!
I have a problem with superkaramba(0.42). I've installed it form repos (i'm using kubuntu gutsy with kde 3.5.8) and those widgets what uses scripts (python or others) are doesn't work. The pics and functions from the theme file are loaded and works, but other things aren't. Since it worked i've installed the newest nvidia driver. Is the driver the problem or else? what should i do?
thanks for the answers

 superkaramba + xcomp

So, here is the story. Superkaramba works alright but not when xcomposite extension is loaded an used. I have these shadows under my windows and transparency turned on but superkaramba widgets - any of them - won't get drawn on the Desktop. I can't also RMB on the area where I know for sure a certain widget must appear to get a context menu. It looks like widgets get launched into some sort of non-accessible layer of the Desktop area.

Turn off xcomposite and it works alright. Any workaround known? I kinda grew tired of trying to figure out this on my own.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
