 Icon Magnifies...

by tdy on: Feb 8 2008

Score 50%

Hi, if these not the place to public these then I'm sory. A cuple of month ago, I saw for the firs time a very atractive thing in the MacOs X System. These was that the icons on the QuickLunch bar, or what ever the name in the Os, magnifie when the mouse pointer pass over them. Is there a theme or something for doing that in KDE, perhaps not only in the lunch bar. Imagin something like a mouse theme, whenever you pass over any icon in any part of the srceen, the icon amplifie.
Thanks and sory again.

Somebody knows if there's a way to set a background image for the Kmenu? The only way I found is to use the style "thin keramik" but I don't like it... thanks for replies

Hi, first of all, sorry for my bad english. I'm from germany ;)

My question is, is there any possibility to add this site with his lot of kde-programs to the yast-installsources?

I have to say i am a little unable to install anything in linux without yast. so this would be a big advantage for me :)

No, unless the maintainers provide packages in official respositories. A lot of stuff from here can be found in the packman and in the guru repos.

Have you added the kde repositories on the opensuse site?

see http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/Repositories

for details.

I'd like to make an applet. I searched over internet but I didn't find information.
I'd the like to create a applet composed by 3 buttons that each open an application. For example(firefox, amarok , kaffeine). I know that I can add it one by one but I'd like an applet.
If you can help me (tutorial ... piece of code)....
Thanks

It sounds like you want a quick launch applet like in Windows, KDE already has one, you should just be able to add it to your panel.

Thanks but I'd like to learn to create kicker applets so I'd like to start with an applet that do that.
If there is a tutorial or a piece of code maybe I can go on.

In my quest for KDE theme mastery I have run into a wall, styles. I have a basic knowledge of C and C++, but I do not feel like spending the time reverse engineering something like QtCurve to learn how to design Widget styles (and window deco). I would really like to learn how to write my own styles and window decoration from scratch instead of having to rely on deKorator and Domino. If anyone knows where to find tutorials or documentation on this, I would be grateful.

A good start is Qt documentation:

http://doc.trolltech.com/4.3/style-reference.html

Even if you don't like it, looking at existing code always helps. Start with simple styles, e.g. the ones provided by Qt.

Have fun :)

I guess you've already seen this, but I post it anyway :)

I too find the deKorator to be a bit insufficient. It's very nice but it's not enough ;)

I have no programming-skills at all so I have to settle for deKorator.

With your themeing-skills you will make very nice themes if you learn how styles and native windeco :)

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
