I had to delete and remove beryl within a day of installing it! Quite frustrating after spending 5+ hours downloading and installing all the parts and dependencies.
Im using KDE 3.5.5 on OpenSuSE 64Bit.
Beryl did not play well with Blender (Made X crash at seemingly random times and on Blender close)
Kicker crashed constantly and needed me to re-start it from Konsole to get it back.

But when it did work the shadows and window decorations made my desktop beautiful!

Maybe Ill wait for a newer version of Beryl or KDE4 before I try this again!

Has anyone had problems like this?

More I might say...
About 3 out of 5 times I log in there was no Kicker and windows did not have borders or buttons so I had to use ALT+Left click to move them. But they wiggled like jello!

I don't think its my hardware as this was on a Athlon 64 3000+ with a Gig of ram and 128Mb detacated card (Im not using the crappy onboard video)

 Beryl

RedHyena,
There are known issues using Beryl with nVidea video cards, or any cards with less than 256MB of RAM.

heshamwhite,
If you have entires for Beryl on your menu click Beryl manager, if not type "beryl-manager" (without the quotes) in your run command box and a red gem icon appears in the tray. Right click it and choose Beryl settings manager. There are more settings there than you ever wanted to see, and I can't find a help file for Beryl, even on the website, you just have to do trial and error.
When you have the settings where you think you want them right click the icon again and find 'select window manger' and choose Beryl.
You can then right click the icon again and open the settings manager,so you can change things and check the effect immediately. Beryl is awesome when it works; you can have four desktops on a rotating transparent cube, or 6 on a rotating hexagon, etc, and there are many cool effects to choose. Good luck.

 Dependencies problem

I tried to install kxdocker, but I've had some dependencies problems, meaning that it needed several libs to be installed. So, I installed them one by one, untill I needed to install rtld(GNU_HASH), which asked for whole ton of different libs. Is there a way to kind of one click-install all of them? Because it's a pain in the butt - kxdocker needs libs, those libs also need libs, and those libs conflict with already installed libs... I kind of missed windows after two hour try-to-install-kxdocker-but-fail...
Also, same problem for Kommando - it needs rtld(GNU_HASH).

If you hate any os, you are being stupid - why hate, if you can just install different one?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
